Summary of Maison and Jardin
Maison & Jardin has been one of Florida’s premier restaurants for a half century, serving traditional French and Continental fare. Stroll around the fragrant gardens before stepping through the doors of the sprawling villa. The neoclassical architecture of this majestic showplace was inspired by a French mansion. As you make your way through the interior, pause to admire the antique framed mirrors, originally housed in a Venetian palazzo. Be careful not to trip over one of the museum-quality Oriental rugs as you make your way to the gazebo room. Here, the soothing sounds of bubbling fountains and softly flowing waterfalls become the soundtrack to your dining experience. Chef Hans Spirig’s passion for the freshest ingredients has led him to grow much of his own produce on site. Avocados and figs, fresh rosemary and blood oranges all travel just a scant few yards from the gardens to your plate. Meat lovers will be pleased to spot beef Wellington on the menu, as well as plenty of veal and steak. The Florida red snapper is wrapped in a delicate pastry crust and drizzled with a creamy crab mousseline sauce. Owner Bill Beuret makes a wide variety of wines available by the half-bottle, and encourages guests to match each course to a specific wine. Specialties include Burgundy and Bordeaux, as well as Californian Chardonnay.
