In the heart of Old Town Key West, just a short jaunt away from Mallory Square and Duval Street, stand the four restored conch boarding houses that make up the Marquesa Hotel. The Greek Revival houses, built in 1884, are interconnected via the grounds’ two pools and tropical gardens, and original details such as the gingerbread trim and island-style verandas have been carefully maintained. Travel + Leisure named the Marquesa Hotel one of the World’s Best Hotels, praising the lovely courtyard and fabulous service. Try guest rooms 10 and 14, in particular: the former for its private deck and the latter for its cozy writer’s corner and lovely dormers. However, all the rooms have a breezy feel: The carved armoires and headboards anchor white walls and island-print linens. This hotel also plays home to the Cafe Marquesa, which serves seafood, rack of lamb, and other delectable goodies.
