When you’re ready to embrace the spirit of hakuna matata, check out the Animal Kingdom Lodge, a luxurious African-style compound located in the Walt Disney World Resort. This is a popular destination for families with children – specially those who are big fans of The Lion King. From the moment you approach the resort – which is surrounded by 33 acres of “savanna” teeming with more than 30 species of wildlife – you will feel as though you have traveled to Africa itself.

The outside of the resort looks like an authentic African lodge. The huge, open lobby is equally impressive: It’s filled with African artifacts and artwork and crowned by an arched ceiling. Each guest room is decorated with vibrant reds, oranges and blues, as well as African-inspired fabrics and hand-carved furniture. If you happen to book a room with a savanna view, expect to see a few zebras while you sip your morning coffee.

For those who like to walk on the wild side, the resort offers guided safaris. And if parents feel the need for “grown up” time, the kids can spend the evening at Simba’s Clubhouse. Here, kids 4-12 can spend a (supervised) evening playing video games and watching their favorite Disney movies.
