The jewel in the Disney crown, the Grand Floridian spares no expense to recreate the kind of luxury seaside vacation Victorian travelers used to take for granted. You could spend an entire evening simply lounging in the opulent lobby as the live orchestra plays soothing melodies. Feel the sun-baked white sand between your toes on a real poolside beach. Dedicated mariners can hop on a JetSki and take a spin around the lake, and if tennis is more your game, clay courts aboud.

Despite the decidedly upscale environs, the resort possesses a breezy charm that brings guests back year after year. The rooms feature period-perfect ceiling fans and private balconies from which to enjoy the water and garden views. Velvety throw pillows let you prop yourself up against the cherry headboard and spiral bedposts so you can devour the latest beach page-turner amid the luxe wallpaper and fine drapery. Spring for the Royal Palm Club concierge service and enjoy breakfast and brunch treats, evening wine and cheese, and cordials and dessert. Don’t forget your evening attire if you wish to experience Victoria & Albert’s. The six-course prix fixe menu changes daily, but some recurring favorites include horseradish-encrusted mahi mahi and an exquisite appetizer of pheasant breast served with blackberry glaze. True gourmands should request the coveted Chef’s Table, which allows the lucky party to dine within the world-renowned kitchen itself.

Grand Floridians Rooms

"I thought the Grand Floridian Resort was the second best Resort I have ever seen. The one thing that I thought could use improving on was there rooms. The hotel itself was Grand but the room are a bit small and dont even have microwaves.I did really enjoy the rest of the resort, especially the 24 hour pool."

Great for everyone

Reviewed by katdoll67 on April 16, 2007

katdoll67's rating:

"We went to the Grand Floridian with a group that ranged in age from 3 to 45. Everyone had a great time. There are two huge pool areas. The central pool area is open all night and is nowhere near the guest rooms so you can come back late from Disney and swim. There is a wonderful spa there and there is a childrens pool. The sandy beach is a great place to relax during the day. It is set away from the pool so there isn't much noise. The restaurants are okay if you are into spending a lot of time and cash. There is a five star restaurant there but if your traveling with young children there is really only one fast food type place on the premises. However, the food is good and they are open 24/7 so it is really convenient. All in all this is a very charming resort. It really makes you feel you are in a victorian seaside resort from days gone by. "

Extra Review

"Okay, so my boyfriend keeps bugging me to write a seperate Citrico Review. So I am. Citrico’s is a fantastic place. The service was so friendly, so prompt and so…attentive. The menu had a little bit of everything but in a small way. I ordered the Crispy Baked Chicken with Tomato Orzo and wilted Chichory. The chicken was crispy, tender, juicy and yummy. The tomato orzo tasted so good, I cant really describe the tomato flavor, but it was strong and good. I havent ever had Chichory, but it was slightly bitter, but it paired well with everything else I ate. My boyfriend ordered Salmon with potatos and some kind of vegatable…I think. He said everything was good, but he could have used an ounce more of Salmon, and they cooked it the way he asked (well done). For dessert we shared Tirimisu, and I ordered a Cappuchino with Irish Creme. Yum. My first spiked coffee drink. The Tirimisu with the coffee went really nice. The dessert wasn’t too strong or too heavy or anything, it was really nice. And enough for two. It was a really nice night. The Atmostphere was calm and pleasent. The views were nice, we even got to see fireworks before we were seated. I hightly reccomend Citricos for anyone who wants to have a date night, dinner with friends or co-workers. They DO serve children…but why would you want to bring children into such a lovely place? Menu Price per person (before dessert and drinks, and apps) about 24-40, depending on what you get. After Drinks, Dessert and Apps, probably about 50-60.It can be really reasonable or really expensive depending on what you get. I would go there again if I was ever back at Disney. "

Fantastic Restaurants!

"This place is BEAUTIFUL!!! I went to Citrico’s in this Resort and it was amazing. The resort is Victorian Style and is just amazing. I would suggest Park Faire or Citrico’s if you are out with a significant other in the parks, or just want to go on a date. The price range for Citrico’s is about 30 per person, and Park Faire is quite a bit more, I’ll need to double check my sources, but I am sure it is at least double that, and I’ve been told you get more than your money’s worth in food quaility. This is a wonderful, but expensive place to stay and I’m sure it is worth it."

Disneys Grand Floridian

"This hotel if you are going to stay on property is wonderful. We visit Disney often because we have season passes and we love to stay here. It is kid -friendly, but still very upscale feeling. The Disney staff is wonderful and it is not as crowded and loud as the other properties on property."

A peaceful retreat at Disney World

Reviewed by Jools on April 30, 2006

Jools' rating:

"The Grand Floridian is Disney’s Victorian take on a luxury hotel. It’s thoroughly charming, and you’ll feel totally spoiled here. I love the fact that the monorail stops right outside the main building ? it’s so simple to get to any of the Disney parks, and when you’ve had enough of the crowds and you need a break, you can just hop back on the monorail and return to peace and quiet. The guest rooms here are immaculate and, since this is Disney, a little whimsical and not at all stuffy. You can’t help but relax ? and smile!"

Disney's Grand Hotel; for kids and adults alike

Reviewed by Gustonian on April 27, 2006

Gustonian's rating:

"I have stayed at this hotel a number of times, and each time I want to stay a little longer. I used to live in Orlando, and actually worked for Disney when I was younger, and this is the hotel I loved to sneak into. I made a promise to myself that when I had a family and made a little money, I would come back to stay in this hotel. The magic happens here. My kids are pretty young, so the fact that we can hop on the monorail from the hotel and the next stop is Magic Kingdom is perfect. Also great is we can get back to the resort quickly for naps, to play in the pool on or on the man made beach, and avoid the hectic side of Disney all together. There is always something going on at the hotel or nearby (like the fireworks you can see from the balcony) and one need not leave this property to be completely comfortable. My wife thinks I must still be on the Mouse’s payroll because I talk about this hotel to anyone who will listen."
