Disney’s Polynesian Resort in Orlando so closely recreates the Pacific Islands – and the Hawaiian spirit of “Aloha” – that you’ll be ready to hula in no time. The Hawaiian architecture of the buildings is completely authentic, down to the thatched roofs. This luxurious resort surrounds the Seven Seas Lagoon, where you can watch pontoon boats and windsurfers cross the waters as you relax on the white-sand beach, mai tai in hand. This little piece of paradise features all the hallmarks of a gorgeous Hawaiian resort – swaying palm trees, koi ponds, waterfalls and more than 75 indigenous varieties of plant life. The open-air lobby, complete with stone floor, lush vegetation and mini waterfall, sets the tone for this special resort. Each guest room is outfitted with natural bamboo-style furniture and brown and red Hawaiian-print fabrics. Send the kids out to the Nanea Volcano Pool, complete with a towering volcano and a grotto slide. But what’s a Hawaiian vacation without a luau? Disney’s Polynesian Resort puts on a spectacular “Spirit of Aloha” dinner show complete with native dancers, pulsating music and luau-inspired cuisine. Or watch your dinner as it cooks over an 18-foot wood-burning fire pit at ‘Ohana – just listen for the blast of a conch shell!

How the other half lives!

"Last year my family took a trip to Disney World and stayed at the All-Star Sports resort. It was a fine hotel, exactly what you would expect from the lowest priced hotels on the property. Well this year we stayed at the Polynesian and WOW, what a difference. The rooms are huge! They list that you can have 5 people per room, but with two queen size beds and a sofa bed that could comfortably fit two you could at least get 6 to a room. The lobby is beautiful and really gives you the feeling that you are in the South Pacific. AT the entrance you are greeted with Aloha by a woman handing out leis. We arrived around 10:30am, so our room wasn't ready, but they took our bags and gave us room keys (that were also our park passes and "credit cards") so we could go out and start enjoying Disney World. All of the staff members were very friendly. Each one would greet us with an Aloha if they saw us on the property. We had some difficulty with our safe and they were very quick to come and fix the problem. There were two swimming pools that we used. The main pool had a "volcano" slide that was short but fun. It also was a zero depth pool (it sloped all the way from the deep end to the sidewalk) that was right next to the beach. That way you could lounge in the pool and look out over the lake to see the spires of Cinderella's Castle. The other pool was closer to our room (we stayed in the Tahiti building) and was much quieter.Getting to and from the Magic Kingdom and Epcot was a snap. Our building was located next to the transportation center, so we could hop on the ferry to get to the Magic Kingdom (it was quicker than the Monorail) or the Monorail to get to Epcot. For everything else we would take one of the busses like you do at all the other resorts. All in all this was a great place to stay. The only catch is the price. Two nights cost more than a week at the All-Star Sports. For our type of Disney vacation it doesn't make sense to do this again (we don't spend a lot of time in our rooms), but it was a great experience and one I will never forget. Also, I'd like to thank my brother-in-law for letting us tag along. He is the reason we stayed at the Polynesian and I'm glad we had the opportunity to experience it at least once in our lives."

Our family favorite

"We've stayed at nearly all the deluxe resorts at Disney World and, by a mile, the Poly is our favorite. The rooms are huge - we like the Tokelau longhouse - the grounds are tranquil and replicate the tropics perfectly and the restaurants are all delicious. The pool is perfectly kid-friendly with zero entry, a slide hidden in a volcano, and a waterfall. Watching the Wishes fireworks at the Magic Kingdom from a hammock on the beach is a special treat. Being on the monorail is convenient for fast trips to the Magic Kingdom and Epcot."

"I’ve stayed at this resort every year of my life (28 years) and a few scattered times throughout the years in between visits. My family spent New Years 2000 at this resort. Also, I proposed to my wife on sunset point at this resort. I would recommend it to anybody considering a stay at WDW. Prices have escalated pretty high in recent years, but it’s still worth banking your pennies during the year to stay for a week or two."

Perfect Spot

"I have stayed at this resort at least 6 times. It is by far my favorite Disny resort. It is relaxing and beautiful. In the spring the whole place smells of gardenia!!! There are 2 pools, one that caters more to kids so the other one is usually quieter. There are hammocks on the beach which are great to lie in at night. THe rooms are great and so is the service. You can watch the fireworks from the Kingdom at night from the beach. But the best part is being on the monorail. IT makes travleing Disney Resorts and the parks so much easier."
