Round up your family and get ready for adventure at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. This Pacific Northwest-style resort pays tribute to America’s roots, its frontier legacy, arts and crafts style, and Native American culture. The imposing structure of the main lodge looks like a Craftsman-style log cabin. This log-cabin feeling extends to the main lobby, which is as big as all outdoors. Massive posts made of gigantic logs support this immense room, and totem poles and Craftsman-style lighting add to the Northwest vibe. Guest rooms boast Mission-style furniture and patchwork quilts. The color scheme throughout includes warm earth tones of brown, rust and green, and wildlife décor helps guests get in touch with nature. All this “roughing it” is bound to create an appetite. Artist Point is the premier sit-down restaurant of Wilderness Lodge, offering an up-close view of Silver Creek Falls. The dining room is many stories high, and “trees” reach toward a mural “sky.” Northwestern delicacies such as cedar plank salmon are Artist Point’s specialty. But what if your little cowboys (and cowgirls) hanker for something a little more casual? Trot on over to the Whispering Canyon Cafe, and Old West-style eatery that features cowpoke memorabilia and wagon-wheel chandeliers. Nosh on wood-smoked pulled pork and ribs – you’ll need the energy out on the trail!

The only place we will ever stay at Disney

Reviewed by dahunter1129 on January 02, 2007

dahunter1129's rating:

"This hotel is just too nice for words. The rooms are comfortable, spacious, and very nicely decorated. The pool is heated, and has a water slide, much to the delight if our son. The in room dining is excellent, the staff is courteous and helpful, and just go out if their way to make your stay as pleasant as possible. The transportation to all the parks is fast and clean, but best of all, the ferry to the Magic Kingdom is quick, and they run very frequently so you are never waiting long. We have stayed here and at Pop Century, and believe me, the extra money is well, well spent. We will never stay at another resort while at Disney."

Wonderful, relaxing resort

"We stayed here from December 9th to the 14th in 2006. It was so nice to come back to the lodge after a day in the Disney parks and feel like you weren’t even in Disney World. Very relaxing. Cozy interior with a massive fireplace and a creek inside. Pool is heated and large enough for many people. There are two Hot tubs. The boat ride from here to Magic Kingdom was fun and short. I know if we ever go back to Disney World we will be staying here again."

Wow - absolutely amazing!

"We loved this hotel. We were a boat ride away from the Magic Kingdom or bus transport if it was a cool morning. It never felt like we waited for long for a bus and it was just outside the front door of the hotel so it was a quick walk. The restaurants were great – Roaring Forks for a quick snack and a good variety of choices of fast food – the healthiest sampling from what we saw of Disney. And Whispering Canyon Cafe for a hootin hollerin night out. Artist Cafe is on our list for our next trip down without the kids.We had a great room- very clean and with a view out to the dock and geyser. We saw the Electrical Water Pageant go past the hotel every night. We’ll definitely be back!"

Whistling Canyon Cafe is SO much Fun!

Reviewed by sarahjane936 on October 11, 2006

sarahjane936's rating:

"I didn’t get a chance to stay here, but I did eat a the Whistling Canyon Cafe in the lodge. If you’re not afraid to have a little fun and be a little silly, this place is for your. Our personal breakfast buffet was cooked by “Grandma” and brought out in a large skillet. The serving staff is one big “family” and treats the place like a hillbilly kitchen. Great fun for adults and kids!"
