"We stayed at Cypress Pointe for 8 days at the end of October, having booked through Sunterra. Our check in was efficient and the staff was very friendly. We happened to be staying there during daylight savings time, and the staff left a message on our phone to remind us of the time change. They also called ahead to let us know that maintenance would be coming in to change the filter in the AC unit. Both phone calls were very much appreciated. After check in, we were directed to the guest relations desk for Sunterra members, where we received a welcome package and a gift bag. We declined the welcome breakfast, and were not pushed on the issue. We had booked 2, one bedroom units, since there were no two bedroom units available at the time we booked. The units were located across the street, and we were given good directions on how to get to the units, along with a map of the property. Our units were located on the lower level, and were just across the hall from one another. We were travelling with my parents, and they took the unit overlooking the pool, our unit overlooked the parking lot. There was a strange odour in my parent’s unit that lingered the entire week. It wasn’t overpowering, but was somewhat musty smelling. You got used to it once you were in the unit for a while. The units were comfortable and spacious. The kitchenette had a small stove/oven, a full sized fridge, microwave and sink. There was a toaster and a coffee maker as well in the well stocked kitchen. The only thing that was missing was scissors, which was a pain if you were trying to open packaging and didn’t bring any with you. The fridge had a full sized freezer, with an automatic ice cube maker, which made it very convenient, not having to go out to get ice. There was also a plastic drink pitcher, and 4 plastic glasses, which we brought out to the pool, since there was no glass allowed there. There was a pull out couch in the living room, along with a coffee table, which was located adjacent to the kitchen. The bedroom area was located through a doorway off of the livingroom/kitchen. You could shut the door for privacy, which worked well since my boyfriend was up earlier than I was, so he could make his coffee and eat breakfast without disturbing me. The bedroom was quite comfortable. There were extra blankets and pillows in the closet. We called and asked for a few more late one night, and they were delivered promptly with extra pillowcases. The television was located in the bedroom, on top of the dresser, which was convenient if you were in bed, but not if you wanted to sit in the living room with other people, as we did frequently. You had to turn the television and the 4 of us had to crowd around the couch area to watch tv at night. We found that to be a bit of an inconvenience. Apprently the 2 bedroom units have a television in the living room. The bathroom was extremely spacious, with a large soaker tub right in the middle, overlooking the bedroom through an archway. There were curtains there you could draw if you wanted privacy. The toilet was located in the corner of the bathroom in a separate room. The shower was spacious, but lacked shelving. The only place to put anything was a small wall mounted soap dish. You end up with shampoo/conditioner/body wash etc.. bottles all over the shower floor, which was a bother. There was a small screened in porch/balcony off of the bedroom area, which we never used. It was ok, but we didn’t have a great view, since we were overlooking the parking lot. The ones on the upper floors overlooking the pool seemed quite nice. We found that the units didn’t block out noise very well. The walls seemed very thin, and we could hear quite clearly anyone outside in the corridors walking by and talking. The maintenance people used walkie talkies, and it was like they were standing right in your room. Just a minor annoyance, but not so nice at 6am. The pool was lovely, and there were a few to choose from. There were lots of lounge chairs available, and tables as well with umbrellas. There was a hot tub also alongside the big pool. Beside the pool there is a gift shop/cafe, where you can get pizza, wings, breakfast sandwiches, pop, beer, coolers, groceries, etc… They will deliver the pizza right to your room. We had some out by the pool the first night we were there. There was only one person working, and it took a really long time since several other people had ordered pizza as well. But, it was great pizza and worth the wait. There was a nice looking mini putt too by the pool, and they had lots of posted activities for kids. You could also rent movies for your room for a flat fee for the week, which I think was around $18 or so. The resort is located right off of the main road to Disney, which is only a few minutes away, as well, Sea World is only about 10 mintues away. There are several restaurants nearby, and a Walgreen’s right across the road. It is very conveniently located to the Interstate as well.Overall, our experience here was great. We would definitely stay here again, but would hope to get a 2 bedroom unit next time, just for the extra living space."
