The circle of life is on full display at the only theme park that combines Disney magic with nature’s wonders. One of the most sophisticated zoos in the world, cleverly disguised as an exciting theme park, Disney’s unique Florida park is not to be missed, regardless of your age. Check your small world preconceptions at the gate, as the creators of Disney’s Animal Kingdom have rethought what a Disney park could be. The peeling stucco and exposed wiring in the African environment are intended to offer a realistic view of what you might see in the East African savannah, cracked walls and all. Board the Kilimanjaro Safaris to get closer to African elephants and rhinos than you ever thought possible. Relax and wipe the sweat from your brow. After all, that lion can’t reach you – probably not, anyway. As you enjoy the best of nature, you’ll marvel at how Disney Imagineers have reconceived the zoo experience for the new millennium. The beasts call the shots at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, so show up early to make the most of this park, which closes at dusk. While thrills like Expedition: Everest await the heartiest of adventurers, burrow down under the Tree of Life for the hidden gem of the park, the 3-D film It’s Tough to be a Bug. You’ll want to loiter in the pre-show area to hear priceless insect interpretations of Broadway standards.

Must be the time of year.....

"We just got back from a post-CHristmas minitrip to WDW. Animal Kingdom was our first park to see. It really didn’t seem that crowded, but when there was a 2+hours wait for the safari tour, we just gave it a pass. MUCH too long to hang about with a 2YO and a 4YO. We also had problems finding PhotoPass photographers, which was something we had really hoped to take advantage of. Oh well. We got a few nice pics with the Tree of Life in the background and then we wre FINALLY able to find some characters at Camp Minnie-Mickey just before we left for the day. We got some cute pics with Mickey, Miniie, and Goofy. That raised my spirits! The Lion King show was FANTASTIC, and my little ones liked taking some downtime at DinoLand. DH and 13YO loved the Dinosaur ride – in fact, my 13YO recommended it from a previous trip she had taken. Pizza at Pizzafari was pretty good, and just hit the spot when we needed it. I look forard to going back when hopefully the crowds won’t be so large and we can do the safari and Everest."

This park is very well done.

"Must see/dos include Kali River Rapid ride, vampire fruit bat exhibit, and Lion King show. The Lion King show will knock your socks off. The kids didn’t seem to enjoy this park as much as the adults in our group did. Not really sure why. My only complaint about this park are the sidewalks. They look cool (distressed concrete), and normally they would have thought they were really cool. However, they made traversing the park while pushing my aunt’s wheelchair very difficult."

Great roller coasters

"The newest of Walt Disney World’s theme parks is, in my opinion, definitely the best. Landscaped to evoke the Serengeti, this park is as close as anyone can get to safari on this continent. Sure, it’s a bit hokey, but this theme park is mostly vanilla for the kids while still exciting enough to keep adults engaged. And the thrilling Dinosaur roller coaster (formerly known as Countdown to Extinction) is worth the entrance ticket alone."
