If you got it, the saying goes, flaunt it, and Floridas got gators. Take a trip to this 70-acre park and see thousands of alligators, and the kindred crocodile, up close. Visit breeding pens, nurseries and rearing ponds. Children love the sites mini water park, and the petting zoo boasts goats, lamb, and other barnyard animals. Make sure to trod the 2000-foot boardwalk winding its way through a cypress swamp. If you get hungry, grab a bite at the on-site Pearls Smokehouse. The menu features Smoked Alligator Ribs and Deep-Fried Gator Nuggets. Admission: $19.95 for Adults, $9.95 for children ages 3-12. Taxes not included. Under 3 are free; but hold them tight.

This is the Place for Old Time Florida Fun

Cynamor's rating:

"Gatorland is a blast, a refreshing change from the over-packaged and overpriced tourist destinations and theme parks in and around Orlando. It is home to thousands of alligators, has engaging and entertaining shows, exhibits, a train ride that costs $2.00 to ride all day, a mini-water splash area for the toddler set, and a serene, beautiful swamp/boardwalk home to countless nesting birds, some endangered, that live there. The baby birds can be quite entertaining when they are getting flying lessons. They make great subjects for photographs, and there is even a well respected nature photographer that teaches the art of photography in private and group workshops there (see the entry on Wildscapes Images). Gatorland is all new in 2008, and I was pleasantly surprised to see an expanded menu there. One can even order smoothies, or blended coffee drinks and cappucinos. And, of course, the fudge is worth mentioning. Well worth mentioning. Don't skimp-buy a couple of bags of hot-dogs from the stands at Gatorland and feed the gators. It's a big part of the fun! "
