Venetian Resort & Casino
The Venetian
These are some of the largest and most lavish standard rooms on the Strip. When you reserve a room at the Venetian/Venezia you don’t receive simply a room. All of the rooms at the Venetian are suites with a bedroom and sunken living room. The two living spaces are separated by 2 small steps and a rail. The living area contains a desk, tv, sofa bed and two comfy chairs. There is also a small table with two chairs for dining. The Venetian added several amenities I was happy to see when I checked in. One the mini-bars are back in the room. They also have installed high speed internet access in all of the rooms and fax/printer machines which is great when traveling for business. In the bedroom section of the room you have a choice of either 2 queen beds or a king bed draped with a canopy against the wall. At the foot of each bed is an upholstered bench. There is also an armoire which contains a second tv and an in room safe large enough to hold a laptop. The bathroom is all done in cream marble with a tub and separate shower stall. The sink is a large double sink with plenty of lighting. There is also a separate vanity with a makeup mirror. The toilet is in a separate room and also has a phone. I am very impressed with the security measures they have in place to ensure that only guests have access to the guest rooms. Unless you have a room key you cannot access the floors since you have to show them to a security guard in order to access the elevator bank The only slight pet peeve is if you need complete darkness to sleep then you will need to place a towel over the nightlight on the side of the steps that was put there to prevent guests from stumbling on the stairs.
The hotel also has a wide range of restaurants on the premises that address a wide variety of budgets and tastes. They have over seventeen restaurants in addition to several food courts bars and a nightclub. Even if you never stay at this hotel you have to visit simply to stroll the canals and take a gondola ride and be serenaded as you float under the man made bridges and past the shops and restaurants within the Grand Canal. Depending on the time of day be prepared to wait in long lines and try to ignore the stares at you from the sidelines as you float by. The wait times for check in are a bit excessive but if you have stayed several times when you call for a reservation they will tell you to proceed to the invited guest line which is much shorter. Or you can book the Venizia tower which has a separate checkin. Also, if you have rented a car it is better to self park as Valet Parking can be a long wait especially when sitting in the hot sun. At least if you have to wait 20 minutes in the hot sun for your car they have staff walking around to offer small bottles of water which is a very nice touch
