The Tasting Room
When I’m in a languorous mood to slowly sip fine wine amid elegant surroundings, I make a beeline for The Tasting Room. On any given night, this inviting nightspot showcases over 100 wines, from Burgundy chablis and German rieslings to Napa Valley cabs and Italian pinot grigios. I’m an enthusiastic oenophile, but even so, I ask for guidance from the friendly, knowledgeable staff, because who knows what surprises their cellar may hold? Every time I’ve taken a chance on a new wine, I’ve been pleasantly surprised. And what better to pair with wine than cheese? The Tasting Room’s cheese flights fit the bill, with such creative assortments as the “Global Goat,” including drunken goat cheese from Spain and gouda goat from Holland. The sinful desserts, such as the chocolate truffle tart served chilled, are hard to resist, especially when washed down with one of their sweet wines.
