This delightful hotel may sit in the cacophonous heart – Union Square, no less – of San Francisco, but you wouldn’t know it when you’re warmly ensconced within. After a day of shopping and restaurant-hopping, coming home (for that’s what it feels like) to Campton Place is a rejuvenating treat. Each floor overlooks a lovely courtyard, so there’s a real sense of intimacy. If I’m planning a lively night out, I have a Campton Place ritual to help ease me into the evening: I start out with a long, hot soak in the sparkling marble baths, followed by a half-hour power nap on the plump bed, and then I call room service and ask them to bring up one of their best Napa Valley vintages so I can enjoy a glass of Northern California’s finest before heading out to hit the nightlife.
