The Arch is a site both of memories and current events and celebrations. The lists of the dead will move you. And the cars that drive around the monument will terrify you! Standing in a direct line between the Louvre and the Grande Arche de la Défense, the monument links the past with the present and offers amazing views. A truly impressive landmark, 50 metres high and 45 metres wide, Paris would not be Paris without it! Admission is EUR7.

"The arc is such a typical symbol of Paris, and it’s near the Louvre! What other reasons do you need to stop by and see it?! Yes, there are a lot of wizzing cars, and the view from the top is really nice, just like everybody else said!"

Arc de Triomphe

dgdarien's rating:

"The Arc de Triomphe is where lots of major streets meet up so its always busy with lots of cars making the mad dash for the roudabout. So at first it was confusing to figure out how you actually get to the Arc de Triomphe in the middle, but soon enough you see the signs pointing you to the underground tunnel to walk to it. There were plenty of war memorials at the Arc itself and you can of course pay and climb to the top for a view of the city."

Must see

"Thank goodness there is an underground walk-way to get to the Arc. Seeing all the cars and buses whizzing by at breakneck speed was a little disconcerting. Must-see landmark."

Gotta do it right

"If you’re gonna visit the Arc it won’t be as much fun if you don’t experience it the way I did … Contiki-style. What you need to do… gather a coach full of the most amazing people you’ve ever met, blast the music, and “WooHoo” your way around the roundabout. If you don’t understand what I’m talking abou then you haven’t done it right."
