Summary of Jules Verne Restaurant
Jules Verne Restaurant
Eiffel Tower, second floor
Paris, France 75007

Talk about a room with a view. The Jules Verne Restaurant is perched just above the second viewing platform on the Eiffel Tower, and the restaurant’s wrap-around windows put Paris at your feet. Dinner here is very romantic, but for sightseeing purposes — as well as for improved likelihood of getting a reservation — lunch can be a better option. (Lunch can also be more budget friendly, with a $62 prix fixe menu available.) Reservations are a must, but having one means you bypass long lines of tourists and zoom up the tower in the restaurant’s private elevator. The décor is modern and elegant, with black chairs and walls and gray banquettes and tablecloths. The food (haute French, but with a few exotic ingredients) is interesting as well as good. Venison (biche) and foie gras en croute is served with currant sauce and rocket (arugula). Exquisite roasted lamb medallions come with an onion and pine nut tart. Pigeon fricassee or crab in shrimp sauce may also appear among the seasonal offerings. There are many thoughtful touches that make the meal even more special. For example, instead of a roll, you may find yourself nibbling on crisp bread sticks encrusted with almonds or pistachios, and coffee is served with chocolate, steamed milk, white and brown sugar cubes, and brown sugar crystals. Everything is lovely — just don’t get so wrapped up in the meal that you forget to look out the window.
