"If you’re visiting the South, you have to have some Southern food. At Mary Mac’s, you’ll find an order sheet and some pencils on your table; you check off what you want, and your server disappears with your order. For the most part, we gave up on trying to follow our heart-healthy guidelines for the day. I ordered the fried chicken and Dale had country fried steak, which he said was almost as good as what his mother made when he was a kid. We did at least get some steamed veggies as a side (although the macaroni and cheese and mashed potatoes and gravy probably negated any benefits we got from the veggies). Since we were in the peach state, we split a piece of peach cobbler for dessert, then we tried to walk off a little of our lunch on a two mile trek to the Jimmy Carter Library."
