While out shopping for Christmas gifts tonight I decided to go ahead and get the kids cell phones.  I have been holding out against this for quite some time because I believed (and still do) that they weren't necessary for youg kids.  But then it dawned on me that a gift doesn't have to satisfy a need.  Out of all the gifts that they'll receive this year, this one will probably mean the most to them.  I'm sure that after a month or 2 I will look back and wonder how we ever got by with out them.  They will also come in handy on our next travel expedition at those times when half the family wants to go one way and the other half is ready to go the other.
