The beachfront La Cohoba Hotel, bordered by coconut palms and sea grape trees, consists of a cluster of Creole style bungalows and Colonial houses nestling among lush, tropical gardens on the tiny Guadelupian island of Marie Galante. Modern décor echoing traditional Creole style in vibrant blues and yellows features in the 100 air conditioned guestrooms, each of which open out onto their own private patio and include direct dial phones, televisions and safes.
Guests can soak up the Caribbean sunshine on the terraces around the outdoor swimming pool and sample exotic fruit juices and rum cocktails at the bar. The restaurant offers buffet breakfast on the poolside terrace and à la carte West Indian specialties accompanied by music at lunch and dinner. Informed staff can provide tour advice and local information and the hotel organises excursions to local attractions. On site entertainment comes in the form of live performances by a local folk orchestra and dinner dances three times a week. The front desk is open round the clock and those with cars will appreciate free onsite parking. There is a currency exchange service and facilities for business guests include an air conditioned conference room. Guests can take part in a range of water sports on the beach, join in a game of beach volleyball or enjoy game of tennis on the hotel courts. Marie Galante has a surface area of 158 square kilometres and a good way to travel the short distances between attractions, such as the port town of Grand Bourg three kilometres away, is by bike, available for hire at the hotel. Marie Galante’s aerodrome is a 15 minute flight from Guadeloupe’s international airport at Pointe a Pitre. The aerodrome is nine kilometres from the hotel.
