A.O.C.

It’s rare that you find a restaurant that can attract celebrities, scenesters, and gourmands, but A.O.C. seems to have pulled this off flawlessly. This is James Beard-nominated Suzanne Goin’s second hit spot. Lucques is her first. After taking in the stellar menu, you might be inspired to share these delicacies with your companions. Adventurous dining is encouraged here by the downright soulful California-Mediterranean small plates. You should order about 10 plates for 4 people. There is a full-fledged selection of house-made charcuterie and an inspired selection of cheeses. Wine enthusiasts are rewarded at A.O.C. with more than 50 artisinal selections by the glass. These wines are housed in a colossal 50 bottle cruvinet. There are no reservations taken for the bar seating, and the wait can be long after 7 p.m. on the weekends. To sit in the dining area, make a reservation at least a week in advance and look forward to it to it every day.
