Built in 1927, the Sheraton Royal Hawaiian is an award-winning gem beloved by locals and guests alike. Its nickname (the “Pink Palace”) is apt: The Royal Hawaiian looks like a Mediterranean palace, and its signature pink stucco hints at the opulence within. Named one of the Top 25 hotels in Hawaii by Travel + Leisure Magazine, the hotel was also part of Conde Nast Traveler’s 2002 Gold List. You’ll see why once you enter the lobby – the wooden beams, intricate rugs, and Moorish-style archways possess a quiet elegance. The Mai Tai Bar and the Surf Room restaurant are perennial local favorites. Guest rooms showcase the Sheraton Royal Hawaiian’s pink theme. Some have two-poster beds, antique-style furnishings, and rose-colored bedspreads. Others have mauve papered walls, pink upholstered sofas, and chandeliers. The pink is never overwhelming; tasteful splashes of teal, ivory and gold provide balance.
