Hailey, ID Summary

Hailey has a population equaling its elevation—5,342 feet. It has a long history of mineral prospecting and lays claim to being the first community to have electric lights and the first in the state to have a telephone system. The Hollywood actor, Bruce Willis, invested in Hailey’s downtown area in order to bring better entertainment facilities to it.

Many of Hailey’s charming nineteenth-century buildings still stand, including the birthplace of the poet Ezra Pound—his possessions are today exhibited at the Blaine County Historical Museum.

The Friedman Memorial Airport is just south of Hailey.
