According to legend, a baseball came crashing through the window of this former tavern, hit by a kid playing a game in the streets with his friends. Who cares if this is true or not? Since 1947, Home Run Inn has been making the best thin crust pizza in town, without question. If you are tired of Chicagos deep dish pizza pies, make the trek to the southwest side to sample a buttery crust that is out of this world delicious, loaded with the best mozzarella cheese that ever graced a pizza. For a real bargain, go during the week for the pizza buffet. If you have never experienced a pizza buffet, look out – it is a truly beautiful sight. Even without that bargain, the regular prices are just right. Pizzas start at $8.95 for a small cheese. The huge menu also includes soups, salads, sandwiches and a variety of tempting desserts.
