If you like to party hearty, Les Nomades would be hell, but if you are serious about your haute cuisine and love elegant surroundings, it’s right where you want to be. Les Nomades is very French and very classy (yes, guys have to wear jacket and tie). Nestled comfortably in a handsome, two-story, turn-of-the-century town home, the restaurant is intimate, quiet, formal, but still friendly. Les Nomades offers a wonderfully flexible build-your-own fixed-price menu; you decide on either four or five courses, and then select whatever you want from the appropriate grouping for each course. You could start with subtly smoked Maine lobster with heirloom squash and bacon risotto. For the next course, you might try the duck consommé with cèpes mushroom quenelle and organic root vegetables. You could then move on to a main course of sautéed Dover sole with fennel mousseline, escargots, and Pernod-garlic emulsion, or perhaps poached beef tournedos Rossini with seared foie gras medallion, potato purée, and sauce Périgueux. Decadent desserts include warm flourless chocolate cake with liquid cassis ganache center and vanilla ice cream or feuilleté with pear mousse, fresh berries, and caramel ice cream. Yow. The service is flawless and the wait staff is knowledgeable, helpful, and charming.
