Unwanted travel
Sorry for the dire lack of activity of late. RL has a way of taking it's toll. My wife's Aunt passed away last week. It was expected, but that in no way lessened the blow.
So we made an unplanned trip to the Adirondacks this past weekend to say our goodbyes to a truly remarkable lady.

To cruise or not to cruise....
Ok, I admit it. I have an unwarranted aversion to taking a cruise. I am not quite sure why. I like the idea of taking a cruise- all of the on-board activities and endless feasting, making several stops to see more than one place, be it Caribbean isles or ports in the Mediterranean or Alaska. Maybe it is because my SIL had a bad...

Academia Blues
Sometimes I ponder my decision to return to school to finish my degree. It'd be far less burdensome (economically, emotionally) if I had just found another job that paid the bills.
When I left school in 2000, I had a day job that I promised to stay at least 6 months; I stayed 6 years. I never enjoyed it, it was never a career, but they kept giving me money so I kept coming back.
They never paid me what my responsibilities were actually worth, but just enough...

Winter weather
Sometimes the furthest I want to travel is to the living room. When it's snowing like a banshee outside, staying in sounds like a plan.

Black Thumb
We can't seem to travel without killing an innocent, helpless houseplant. Maybe it would all be different if we had pets. There is no forgetting about a beloved pet that would make it possible to go away for a weekend, or longer, without making some plans for their wellbeing. Maybe then, we could tack "plant care" onto the pet caretaker's list of "to-dos." In the meantime, perhaps we should replace withered, trip-neglected plants with something a bit...

Top 5
Top 5 places that I have been to (some having been several times) that I would like to revisit and explore some more: 1. Hawaii (surprised?), 2. Chicago, 3. San Francisco Bay area, 4. Rhode Island, 5. Paris
I hesitated to put New York City on the list because of all places, I've probably been there the most. There is just so much to see and do and repeat. NYC would be #6.

more excuses to eat out
This site has been quirky with me tonight, so we'll see if this ends up posted or not….
I thought I'd post about a benefit of this site I didn't expect. Reviewing the places listed for my hometown, I've discovered places that I didn't even know existed! I've got a few places I need to check out.

Sick of snow already
It was only a couple weeks ago that we were enjoying unseasonably warm 60 degree days. Unfortunately, sun has been replaced by snowy day after snowy day. Thoughts have since turned to daydreams of a more tropical locale…

Wanderlust
It's been awhile since we've embarked on any grand adventures. Weekend trips here and there, sure. The bigger trips (like Hawaii twice in two years! Vegas!) have been put on hold while I have buckled down to finish school. Now that my graduation date looms in the horizon, I'm left to wonder- what's next? My wife wants to go somewhere special as a celebration of what's been accomplished and a last hurrah before I hit the drag of a new day job. New jobs have a tendency...

Around the World in a Weekend
So I'm slowly burning out trying to remember EVERYWHERE I've ever been for Gusto. It's been fun though. It took me years to go toall theses places but I've been able to relive almost every place this weekend.
