Black Thumb
We can't seem to travel without killing an innocent, helpless houseplant. Maybe it would all be different if we had pets. There is no forgetting about a beloved pet that would make it possible to go away for a weekend, or longer, without making some plans for their wellbeing. Maybe then, we could tack "plant care" onto the pet caretaker's list of "to-dos." In the meantime, perhaps we should replace withered, trip-neglected plants with something a bit sturdier… like a cactus.

I once had a cactus that shot tiny spines into my hand everytime I watered it. It eventually got what was coming to it though, because I can't even keep a cactus alive.
It's a good thing I never had kids. They'd all have perished of root rot.
