Manarola, Italy Summary

MANAROLA is almost as enchanting as Vernazza, its pastel-shaded houses crowded impossibly up the sides of a prominent headland of dark rock. The fourteenth-century church of San Lorenzo in the village has another beautiful rose window. On the road from Manarola to Corniglia above the village is the hamlet of Groppo, home to the Cooperativa Agricola Cinque Terre, which offers tastings and direct sale of the local wines (Mon-Sat 10am-noon & 2-6pm; tel 0187.920.435).
