Expert Tip. The Porta Ticinese monument, one kilometre from the hotel, is the purest example of Milanese neo classical architecture in the city. Erected between 1801 and 1814, it was financed by public donations to celebrate Napoleon’s victory at Marengo. Although now blackened by age, this granite edifice was originally pink.
