Patties of Jamaica
Homecooked food, Jamaican style
This is my favorite restaurant in Indianapolis. It’s one of those great little hole-in-the-wall places where the owners treat everyone like old friends. The restaurant itself is small and primarily a carry-out place, although they do have two booths available if you want to eat there. It’s fast, it’s friendly, it’s cheap, and it’s GOOD.
Their menu is limited to about 10 items, including curried chicken, baked chicken, beef stew, and for the more adventurous, curried goat. Most dishes are served with white rice, or with delicious rice and peas for an additional charge. Everything on the menu is under $5, so it’s a great value. But my favorite thing that they serve is their homemade Jamaican Patties. They are made from mildly spicy beef baked in a flaky pastry crust, and cost around $1 each. I have to warn you that they are addicting.
