Glorious!
We stayed here the weekend of May 26th for their Garden Gourmet Weekend. This was our second year attending this event. What a spectacular Inn! Everything about Langdon Hall is top notch, from the exceptional service, the incredible food to the luxurious comfort of their guest suites. I simply cannot say enough good things about this Inn!
Their food is truly worthy of their 5 Diamond rating. We took the Sunday morning culinary tour and demonstration. The kitchen works like a well-oiled machine. The Sous Executive Chef Matthew was funny and charming and made sure that we all had a good understanding of the workings in the kitchen and the cooking demonstration was so informative! We dined on such delectable dishes as Seared Digby Scallop with Watermelon Salsa, Sardinian Fennel & Ginger Puree, Celery Foam & Celery Crisps ~ Canon of Monkfish & Double Smoked Bacon with Roasted Globe Artichoke, Parsnip, Aged Parmesan, Puree of King Richard Leeks and Sauce Lie Vin ~ White Chocolate Raspberry Clafouti with Grand Marnier Anglaise.... Hungry yet?!
The afternoon tea is an equally elegant affair, served in the Solarium, overlooking the vast gardens that Langdon Hall is famous for. The Hall has 3 Baker/Pastry Chefs on staff, and you will not be disappointed. They even make their own butter on site, which makes perfect sense when you sink your teeth into one of their flaky croissants. Heavenly.
We had a loft suite which was wonderfully appointed with beds so comfortable that you never want to get out of, dressed in soft, soft bedding. We had a small fridge, sink and coffee maker and the staff at the front desk was more than happy to oblige our request for plates and cutlery for the goodies we brought to snack on at night. There was a tv with DVD player, and apparently the Inn has a selection of movies for borrowing. There is a fireplace as well and plenty of firewood stacked in a basket hearth-side.
Since we were there on the Garden Weekend, we had the luxury of touring the gardens with Heather, the head gardener. Her knowledge is astounding! She was informative and most helpful with questions about our own gardens at home. Bring your camera, there's plenty of scenery to fill up your memory card with!
All in all, I can't emphasize enough how much I loved my weekend at this wonderful Inn. Please be sure to add this one to your "Places I'm Going"!
