Loretto, KY Summary

Loretto, located 53 miles southeast of Louisville, is home to Maker’s Mark Distillery, a national historic landmark situated in very pretty countryside. Whiskey is still produced manually in attractive red, black, and gray plankhouses. Older still is the beautiful Holy Cross Church, which was established in the 1780s by a group of Catholic families from Maryland. It was the site of the first Mass in Kentucky and the site of the first Catholic church west of the Allegheny Mountains.

Closest public transport is at Louisville, which has an international airport, trains, and buses.
