"If you are in the New Orleans/Baton Rouge area and want one plantation to see, I highly reccomend you visit this magnificent plantation. The grounds include a "big house" (with the first home built on the area attached to the back), 2 garconierres and 12 acres of lush gardens. This plantation has every essential element that I love about the houses from the Old South: Live Oaks, big house, gardens and a great story to tie everything in together. There is something for everyone here, for the movie lovers - Hush, Hush Sweet Charlotte was filmed on site here. For the book lovers - one of the former owners was Margaret Mitchell's inspiration for Ashley Wilks and the home is mentioned in John Jakes' North and South. For the history buff - there are tons of antiques and stories surrounding this home to keep your mind active. There are plenty more things to keep anyone entertained and the tour guides are fantastic. There is also a gift shop on site as well as dining. This year they are breaking ground for a bed and breakfast. I cannot rave about my trip here enough!"
