Summary of Fairmont Hotel New Orleans
The Fairmont New Orleans sustained significant damage as a result of Hurricane Katrina and the subsequent flooding, and Fairmont decided to sell the property.
Waldorf-Astoria has purchased the property and will spend $100 million refurbishing the site, restoring a grand sense of elegance to the space. The Waldorf-Astoria Hotel will be slightly smaller than the Fairmont was, offering about 500 guest rooms, down from roughly 700. An opening date for the Waldorf-Astoria has not been announced.
