Summary of Pat O'Brien's
Whether you’re a coed on spring break or you’re in town for a memorable 20th anniversary weekend, a night in the Big Easy must include a few minutes or a few hours at Pat O’Brien’s in the French Quarter. You’ll feel right at home with the rowdy locals sipping – or chugging – a Bloody Mary or famous Hurricane. The old carriageway entrance is charming and historic, but what awaits you inside is even better: Pat O’Brien’s has something for every French Quarter dweller. To the left is the casual main bar, where loyal customers give the place its neighborhood-watering-hole atmosphere. Dance up a storm or sit back and relax to the sounds of a jukebox chock full of favorite bar tunes. To the right is the popular piano bar, where the line to sit down in the evenings may turn you off, but it’s well worth the wait. You’ll sit in green-cushioned chairs around copper-topped tables and face dueling pianists performing your favorite songs on baby grands. Be sure to go through the carriageway to the outdoor patio and its famous flaming fountain, a stone and copper water fountain blazing with red-hot flames and surrounded by red-hot singles engaged in Hurricane-induced flirting. The patio’s lush foliage, iron tables and warm New Orleans nights create the perfect spot to start or end your French Quarter experience.
