Berkeley

Nice town.

Berkeley is a cute town. The University is pretty big, so there are a lot of students around when school’s in session. There are also a lot of homeless people around, which is sad. The area around the university, especially, has a lot of interesting, independent stores, although there are more and more chains these days, too. There are still a lot of unique shopping opportunities around, though. The UC Berkeley campus is quite beautiful, too, and there are some other nice parks and stuff around. For a bit of history, go to People’s Park, off Telegraph Avenue. It’s not very nice, but there’s a great mural depicting the protests there in the ‘60s next to it. If you know the history, it’s interesting to see what it’s like today, 40 years later.
