Pizza in Sweden

I wrote about pizza in Korea, so I guess I might as well write about pizza in Sweden! There are gazillions of pizzerias in Sweden. A lot of Middle Eastern immigrants, especially, run pizzeria and kebab shops. I'm not sure why they are so well-represented among pizzeria owners! But that means there is are a lot of pizza choices, although most of the places serve exactly the same pizzas. And of course it means that pizza is pretty cheap, too! It's about 40-50 kroner for a pizza most places, although there are some gourmet pizza places where it's more expensive. Almost all the pizza in Sweden is thin-crust, unless you go to Pizza Hut or a place that advertises pan pizza. People almost always get their own pizzas, you don't share (if it's not pan pizza, but we're not talking about that anymore!). It's incredibly popular among young university students to get pizza; a lot of the boys I knew used order pizza at least once a week! My favorite is the Margarita, which is just plain cheese. Some interesting pizza choices are kebab pizza, which kebab meat (lamb usually, I think) and garlic sauce drizzled over, egg as a topping, where they usually break a raw egg over the pizza before putting it in the oven, and, the most unusual, Chiquita/Tropicana/Bombay/Whatever you want to call it: bananas, peanuts, chicken, and curry sauce. Not as gross as it sounds!
