Fancy toilets!
One of the things that I found hilarious, but I really liked in Korea was the fancy toilet seat in my apartment!
It was very futuristic- it looked like it belonged on a spaceship! Some hotels and restaurants had them, too, and I saw a lot in Japan. You could warm up the seat, wash your bum when you were finished going to the bathroom, and then dry it with warm air afterwards! Crazy! Most of them I saw in the store were about $300 US- for a toilet seat! Luckily my last apartment came equipped with one, because I wasn't about to pay that much for it!! Some public places in Korea and Japan have holes in the ground still, too, although most places that have those also have Western toilets available. Such a contrast between a hole in the ground & the fancy toilet seat!

$4500 for a toilet seat! I can’t even imagine being that rich! The Korean ones don’t make noise, but the toilets in the train stations (which are mostly holes in the ground) have “Etiquette Bells” on the wall, that make a flushing sound if you push them. God forbid somebody makes a noise in a bathroom! & like people aren’t going to suspect something if a flushing sound comes from your stall 10 times??

In fairness, the 4500 was for an entire toilet, boasting a computerized control panel with a “menu of cleansing jets.” LOL. I’ll tell you, if I had that kind of money burning a hole in my pocket, I’d probably get one. It’s the toilet you expect to find in the Jetson’s apartment, and who wouldn’t want to live like the Jetsons?
Etiquette Bells to provide a faux flush noise???!! LMFAO

The fanciest Japanese toilets were featured on a Travel Planet show the other day. They had one for $4,500 that washed you, dried you, played white noise to cover your farts and squirted out some perfume when you were done. In light of that, it's fascinating to hear that there are still public toilets over there that are nothing but holes in the ground.
