Széchenyi Thermal Baths

Relaxing!

There are a lot of Turkish baths in Budapest, although most are men-only, and some have days that are women-only. This one is always mixed, and you have to wear bathing suits (the single-sex ones are usually nude baths). But in the summer there are separate roofs for nude sunbathing, if you’re desperate to take off your clothes! When you go in, you rent a locker to keep your stuff in, and change into your suit. Then it’s off to the pools! There’s a big outdoor pool that is heated, so it was nice to go in even in March, when I was there. You just kind of relax in the pool. There are mostly adults, with a lot of old people, although there were a few children, too. There are also some smaller indoor pools of different temperatures. It’s really relaxing. If you don’t have a swimsuit, you can rent one here. But I had to rent one, and it was pretty sketchy- stretched out and old! Not attractive at all! So try to remember your suit! It was really nice relaxing in the water. I loved it! I believe they had an area where you could get massages, too.
