Czech Republic

Nice!

I actually went here for the first time when I was 9, and it was still Czechoslovakia! It’s fun to have the old stamp in my passport, but I really can’t remember much about it, besides the men with the big guns at the border. Too bad, because it would be really fun to compare it to the Czech Republic of today. I’m sure it’s changed since I went there a few years ago, since it’s been in the EU for awhile now and Prague was such a hot tourist destination. But I found the countryside to be beautiful, the people friendly, and Prague to be a really nice, historical, fascinating city. I also enjoyed the hearty food! It was nice that everything was so cheap, too. I remember I wanted to buy a little toy that cost about $2 US. I only had the equivalent of a $20 bill, and the store couldn’t make change! Neither could the neighboring stores- I had to go to a bank to get smaller bills and come back! I can’t imagine stores in the US not having change for a $20! It really brought home the economic differences between the two countries.
