review Jan Hus Monument

Nice idea, not so beautiful statue.

Jan Hus started the Hussite movement in the 1400s, and for that, was burned at the stake by the Catholics. The Hussites helped lead to the Protestant movements. The statue in the town square commemorates Jan Hus, and how he died rather than give up his beliefs. The steps around the statue are a popular gathering place. The statue itself isn’t that beautiful, but the idea behind it, of doing what you believe is right no matter what, is great! The statue shows Jan Hus standing tall, and some bodies around him. The inscription on the base says “Truth Prevails,” which is a nice sentiment! & it’s nice with the steps, to have a place to sit down when you’ve been walking around town all day!
