"I went to Penang Hill on my last day in Malaysia. I thought the funicular ride up the mountain sounded fun. & it would have been, because the scenery was beautiful, if they didn’t pack people into the cars like sardines. People are shoving and pushing so they can get one of the few seats, and it is very squishy in the car. Then, on the way down, we had to wait almost an hour to get a train back down. & it was even squishier than the train up. Urgh! Otherwise, this was a nice trip. The views of Georgetown and the ocean from Penang Hill are fabulous! It was a little hazy on the day I was there, but still beautiful. There are some souvenir and food stands, and plenty of room to walk around. There is also a mosque and a Hindu temple, and a playground for children. I saw there was also a canopy walk, which is a bridge thing where you can walk among the tree tops, but it was closed, and seemed like it had been for awhile. It sounded really cool, so I hope they reopen it soon."
