"This was a really beautiful place to walk. I took the tour, which means you pay a little extra to have a guide tell you about some of the more important spices and plants that grow in the garden. I stayed for about an hour or so, and it was fascinating. The tour guide was great- very knowledgeable about spices, and entertaining. The gardens were beautiful. They aren’t very old, but they’ve already won international awards. Even if you decide not to take the tour, and just walk around on your own, there are plenty of signs next to important plants that give you information. There are small ponds throughout the gardens, and tractor that takes you to the top of the hill (although you can walk, too!). At the top is a small cafe, where you have lovely views of the ocean and Penang, and a small gift shop. There’s also a very small Spice Museum, where you can learn about the history of spice cultivation. The best part for me was just the peaceful walk through beautiful gardens."
