Baltimore is an exciting town full of rich historical and cultural treasures. Nearly three hundred years old, Baltimore is one of America’s oldest cities and has nearly perfected the art of hospitality. The city will keep you busy, day and night, with its award-winning restaurants and festive activities. There are so many historic sites in Baltimore that it is often difficult to narrow the options. Edgar Allen Poe’s house is still standing and is definitely worth a visit (as is his grave). Another entertaining attraction is the Babe Ruth museum. This museum offers an in-depth and moving look at one of baseball’s biggest heroes. For American-history buffs, Fort McHenry is a must-see. A National Monument and historical shrine, Fort McHenry was the birthplace of the national anthem.
Hear that national anthem sung before the home team takes the field at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. You could also spend a peaceful afternoon strolling through several attractive old neighborhoods. Fells Point, for instance, is a delightful waterfront community featuring cobblestone streets, jazz bars, distinctive boutiques and lots of restaurants. Make sure to set aside some time for breakfast at Blue Moon. A neighborhood favorite, this popular eatery serves up some of the best cinnamon rolls in town. The Inner Harbor district is another neighborhood in Baltimore that’s worth your time. A shipbuilding-borough-turned-tourist-community, Inner Harbor is host to a number of interesting shops, art galleries and restaurants. While you are there, be sure to grab a hamburger at the Hard Rock CafĂ©, which is located inside the old renovated Power Plant.
