Emerson College, Bostons communications college, bought this beautiful, 976-seat theater in 1983 and reopened it after a six-year renovation. In addition to serving Emersons performing arts students, the stage hosts numerous not-for-profit groups and productions. Recent productions have included a Rossini opera by the Boston Academy of Music and performances by Algerian and French dance troupes. The theater is available for rental.
