Summary of Freedom Trail
The idea of mixing education with entertainment seems to have run its course nowadays, which makes it all the more refreshing to find an attraction that has been combining the two so well for so long. The Freedom Trail Foundation offers walking tours of sixteen historic Boston sites, each of them steeped in Revolutionary-era history. At the tour’s origin in the Greater Boston Convention and Visitor Center, you can choose between following a colonial garbed guide or renting an audio tour, which allows for a much more flexible schedule (as well as the union of cutting-edge technology with early American history). The Freedom Trail’s narrow red path will take you two and half miles and nearly three hundred years back in time to one of the most contentious periods in American history. Through immaculately preserved sites, including the Old State House and the U.S.S. Constitution, you’ll experience Boston’s rich past alongside its thriving urban present. Though the majority of participants in the tour are families with school-age children, the Freedom Trail’s depth and charm attracts anyone interested in knowing more about this remarkable city.
