The idea caught on fast with the citys student population. This store is perfect for the stylish yet financially challenged. Shoppers squeeze onto crowded sales floors daily, groping for bargains in designer clothing and shoes. The company claims that this store is the citys second most popular tourist attraction.

"The dressing rooms may be intimidating for some (there are no stalls, just an open space with mirrors all around), shopping at the Basement is a worthy experience. You can find some great deals if you manage to find that diamond in the rough that happens to be 75% off (Vera Wang dress for $10, anyone?). They discount things according to the dates stuck onto the price tags, and if pieces are over 2 months(?) old, all proceeds go to charity. What a great business model, huh? The annual bridal sale is hilarious as you can watch brides-to-be (and their minions) battle it out for that perfect dress for as cheap as possible."
