Finally!!

A blog about Springfield, MO

Wilco's coming to town Well in my almost 3 years in Springfield, I'm finally getting to go see a national act right there in town. Wilco is playing at the Shriner Mosque Auditorium (BTW, what are Shriner's anyway??). I've been wanting to see these guys for years and the other night I went downtown to get ice cream with my family and saw a poster on a telephone pole. So today I just bought 2 tix for general admission. The venue is really small so the show should be excellent. I'll followup after the show which is October 16th.

Wow – what a show! Awesome set by one of the best American bands around. Here’s the set list as played:

  1. Via Chicago
  2. A Shot In The Arm
  3. I Am Trying To Break Your Heart
  4. Handshake Drugs
  5. Impossible Germany (new)
  6. Company In My Back
  7. War On War
  8. At Least That’s What You Said
  9. Jesus, Etc.
  10. Forget The Flowers
  11. Walken
  12. Theologians
  13. I’m The Man Who Loves You
  14. Poor Places
  15. The Late Greats
First Encore:
  1. Airline To Heaven
  2. Hummingbird
Second Encore:
  1. Heavy Metal Drummer
  2. Let’s Not Get Carried Away (new)
  3. Kingpin
  4. California Stars

At one point (I forget which song it was now) some wasted moron climbed up on stage and kissed Jeff Tweedy who immediately took off his guitar and punched him right in the face, the show continued and Wilco performed flawlessly.

The sound at the Shriner mosque was excellent. Made me wish I had taped it. If you get a chance go see Wilco on this tour.

If you don’t know who they are – go to your local music store or iTunes and buy all their records.
