Quince
Price not commensurate with the food
I went here with very high expectations as I had read several glowing reviews and heard great things about it from native San Franciscans but alas I was disappointed.
I will say the pasta course I had was one of the best I’ve tasted either in the US or in Italy, but the price of admission for just this dish was out of completely sync with the food. Also this was just a small course in a multi course meal so it was only satisfying to the palate and my dining partners didn’t have pasta that was nearly as good as mine.
To me the wait staff had an underlying attitude of superiority which is always annoying. It was if I was being “allowed” to eat there. That being said our waiter was extremely knowledgeable about all the food available for the evening and the wine list.
The rest of the dishes (also extraordinarly expensive) I had on my particular visit were just “fine”, not extraordinary by any stretch.
I’m not what I consider a price conscious diner but I do expect that if I buy a meal for $100 it should be at least some degree better then a $50 meal. Quince doesn’t appear to support this multiplication factor.
