Great lodging but pricey due to amenities lacking

Gini's rating:

"Took hubby, stepdaughter and outlaws to Branson for a 3-day golf/shopping/scoping out homesites trip. Rented a 2 bedroom-plus loft log cabin. Cabin was in excellent condition, with a full modern kitchen, two large bedrooms each with king bed and full bath and a large loft also with a king bed. Everything in the lodging worked well and was very clean. In the brochure for Thousand Hills, however, they advertised all sorts of amenities, such as pools and recreational facilities. What they don’t tell you is how far it is to use those facilities. The nearest pool to our cabin was just down the street but under construction. We had to drive a few miles away (crossing the unbelievably infamous Rte. 76) to get to a functioning pool. Even when we finally found it we had to traipse around the outside of another huge condominium complex to get to it. The pool was very small but clean. Not a huge deal, but a bit of a pain. My husband and father-in-law played golf at Thousand Hills Golf Course one day. Outside air temp was almost 100. Signs posted at the golf course stated that no outside food or beverages were allowed. They thought that would be okay because even cheapo public courses have water fountains, drink carts, etc. set up around their course. Well, not this one. The drink cart did come around…after they’d already played 16 holes in the 100 degree heat. The only water fountain they encountered on the entire course was broken. This is an unacceptable condition at any golf course, let alone one at a resort. Both my husband and father-in-law complained to course and resort staff about this and got the blank “who gives a crap” stare. Bottom line with our stay was that the accomodations were perfectly acceptable, but pricey in consideration of the amenities that were lacking."
