This place is an institution!

"If you want the real Kansas City barbecue experience you need to go here. This place is all about the experience, and receiving your food wrapped in brown paper bags ... they give you a lot of food, so be ready to eat! The guys that serve you are great! I love the personality of this place, and all of the celebrity pictures on the wall. Try the shredded meat sandwiches with the hotter bbq sauce. Make sure to get fries, and a big glass of Coke! Be ready to wait, the line is usually out the door, especially at the original location which is on Brooklyn Ave!"

BBQ - The Real Deal!!!!

Reviewed by Boxhead on April 25, 2008

"Great barbeque! Maybe the best I have had in a long time without comparing to Moe's BBQ in Vail, CO. It also could have tasted great since Missouri beat Ku Jayhawks to earn a spot in the Big 12 Title games vs OU. Food: served in huge heaping portions, great flavor, huge cups of coke (perfect for a hangover), simply authentic. Best test was that the place was packed - they must be doing something right!!!! "

The best in KC

Reviewed by Jools on October 08, 2007

Jools' rating:

"Arthur Bryant's is by far my favorite BBQ in Kansas City, and this is the only location I ever visit. (There's one in a casino and one up by the racetrack, but they don't have the personality of this place.) This is absolutely a no frills place, and you need to pay attention to the menu while you're standing in line and be ready to order when you get up front - this place is usually busy, and no one likes it when someone holds up the line. My favorite thing here is the pulled pork, though I'm told the ribs are excellent as well. Even the fries here are good, and I'm not a big fan of fries. Be aware that you're probably gonna get messy when you eat here. This place is always packed before Chiefs games, with people either stopping by for lunch or loading up on stuff to take to the stadium to tailgate."

"Arthur Bryant’s barbecue deserves its excellent reputation! This will be one of the tastiest, messiest, most satisfying meals you ever eat! The food is delicious, and it’s fascinating to study the walls and learn who came to eat there before you. You’ll leave well-fed and happy. If your travels are often food-driven, as mine are, make this an essential stop."

Sweet Mother...

"There will be a guaranteed line that snakes out the door at lunchtime. People will tell tourist to go to Gates. Forget that advice and head to Arthur Bryants. The Brooklyn location is whrere its at. People might tell you that it’s ghetto but there are grannys and little ones always waiting safely. When you make it to the front of the line, grab a plate and get a good look at that smoker that produces the best BBQ that I’ve ever tasted. The sauce is perfection and so is the meat. My favorite is the pulled pork sandwich piled high with pickles and served with a side of fries ( I like to dip them in the BBQ sauce). I walk out of this place absolutely miserable because I always stuff myself silly. Hands down my favorite BBQ ever."

Arthur Bryant's

huskerlarry's rating:

"The best smoked meat in K.C., in my opinion. The ribs are out of this world. The sandwiches are great, and huge. I am not terribly fond of the vinegar-based sauce that they use as their main sauce, but that’s a personal choice. If you are not familiar with it, I’d recommend ordering your ribs or sandwiches without sauce, and you can always experiment with the various sauces available at the table."

Best BBQ ever

Reviewed by NavinR on August 01, 2006

NavinR's rating:

"Arthur Bryant’s is without a doubt the best BBQ I’ve ever had. The pulled pork and hot link combo is more than my 150 pound frame could even consider yet I ate twice as much as usual thanks to the fantastic flavor. You can procure some Arthur Bryant’s on one of the casino’s in KC, but this is definitely not the real thing. To get the true experience, and more importantly the best flavor head to the original on Brooklyn, off of I-70 near downtown. The neighborhood might make this a “day-trip” but it’s safe enough, and without a doubt worth the trip. If you’re coming to KC for BBQ eat here first, you’ll find yourself measuring all others to this king."
