Classic Cup is Kansas City’s best “see and be seen” spot. Located for more than a decade on Kansas City’s Country Club Plaza, this European bistro’s patio seating is a people-watcher’s dream come true, and a foodie’s, as well. Executive Chef Michael Turner continues to impress locals and visitors alike with his contemporary cuisine. The Plaza’s bustling shoppers steal glances as they are tantalized by the wafting smell of New Zealand rack of lamb smothered in a lingonberry sauce. The port infused crème brulee served with French press coffee is a perfect fit with the traditional brasserie atmosphere. Stock up your liquor cabinet and impress your friends with the Classic Cup’s first quarter “dollar-over-cost” wine sale. Their list is impressive. This restaurant is a little gem of uniqueness surrounded by a gold mine of chains.

GREAT!

"I live in the Kansas City area & love going to The Country Club Plaza & eating or just having drinks out on the deck! You have 3 options for dining/drinking here~outside near the sidewalk to 'people watch', indoors for a more elegant experience, & on the deck in back at tables with umbrellas for a more private setting. Their drinks are superb! Not watered down at all! Some are a little on the pricey side. But, I ordered a nice mixed drink that some would consider 'foo-foo'! My husband orders Jack & Coke each time & he says they are reasonably priced & very well-made. The food is amazing! I actually like some of the lunch items better compared to the same item offered for dinner. Their sandwiches are great! We love the service, prices are not bad for this area. Actually, for anywhere! It is well worth your time to come here! You won't be disappointed!Oh! On our last visit we ordered soup & salad & the Blue Cheese dressing is served in a cute little tiny silver pitcher(the kind they would normally serve milk for your coffee in)on the side. The blue cheese is 65c extra but it is worth every penny! The chunks of blue cheese are large & not overpowering! We ordered the 1/2 salad & it was plenty! None of that 'iceberg' junk! The good stuff! Very fresh! My husband ordered the soup~I think it was chicken chowder or something like that. VERRRY good! I had the black bean chili & it had sour cream, white cheese & salsa. It was vegetarian & that was a refreshing change of pace. I am not a vegan, but, one would be very happy! A very wise choice for just about any time of the day or nite! My daughter had the Goat Cheese Ravioli & I am not sure, but I think it was an appetizer. She was a little leary, never having Goat Cheese before. She loved it! The bread they bring you is wonderful!Hope you visit soon! "

A favorite Kansas City haunt

"This little bistro is a great place to take a break when you’re spending an afternoon on the Country Club Plaza. When the weather’s nice, I like to try to snare an outdoor table and relax with a drink while doing a little people- and puppy-watching (lots of folks bring their dogs to the Plaza). When I ‘m in town to do some Christmas shopping, I like to stop by to warm up with a little Irish coffee at a table by the window, where I’ll have a great view of shoppers and their pooches walking down the sidewalk, as well as of the Plaza’s Christmas lights. The soups they make here are always great, and I’m a big fan of the goat cheese ravioli."

"The Classic Cup is one of the best places to eat on a beautiful day. They are one of the few restaurants on the Country Club Plaza to have an outdoor sidewalk cafe and one of the few to be still independently owned. This European bistro has had the same chef, Michael Turner for over ten years. He and the Classic Cup crew continues to impress people with his contemporary cusine and an award winning wine list. This bistro is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They are famous for their pancakes and you often see quite a few patrons having a slice of their delicious Thai chicken pizza from the street. Their menu will accomidates all tastes and includes anthing from seafood ravioli, mussels, lamb and pizza. Dont forget dessert while you are here. The creme brulee trio my favorite, served with french press coffee, you cannot go wrong. Stock up your liquor cabinet and impress your friends with the Classic Cup’s first quarter, “Dollar-over-cost” wine sale. This restaurant is a little gem of uniqueness surrounded by a gold mine of chains."
