Lake Ozark, MO

Review » | Save » | Email »

This sprawling, dam-formed lake in west-central Missouri has 1,150 miles of irregular shoreline, and is one of the state’s most popular vacation destinations. The most-visited towns near the lakefront are Osage Beach (population 2,600) and Lake Ozark (population 700). Both lie on the lake’s eastern end, along Hwy 54, and are serviced by buses. Aside from boating, fishing, swimming, and golf, the area is popular for its many country music and variety shows. The nearby Ozark Caverns, southeast of Osage Beach, are also worth a look. The visitor center is open from April to October; special-interest tours are offered in the summer months.

Great lake

kjochims28's rating:

"Lake of the Ozarks is a great lake for almost any aquatic activity you can think of; fishing, tubing, jet skiing, water skiing, wakeboarding, swimming, boating.... you get the idea. On the lake are several gas stations with little bait shops and convenience stores inside. Also on the lake are several caves, the most popular one being Bridal Cave, and even an old castle. "
